Tree Ornament Kitten Silver
This charming glass ornament shows an adorable sitting kitten with a playful expression. Skilled glassblowers mouth-blow and hand-paint each piece. The soft pearlescent silver finish reflects the warm glow of Christmas lights beautifully. Bright green eyes, delicate whiskers, and a tiny raised paw give the kitten a curious and lively character.
Traditional glassblowing techniques shape ornaments like this one. Each piece develops its own personality and charm. The detailed sculpting and classic silver hanging cap make this sweet kitten a delightful addition to any Christmas tree and a perfect keepsake for cat lovers.
About Glas Bartholmes – “Thüringer Weihnacht”
Our family has crafted glass Christmas ornaments for five generations. The decorations once made by my grandfather and great-grandfather still define our glassblowing factory today. Skilled artisans create elaborate, hand-crafted ornaments known for their rich colors and traditional designs. Many shapes come directly from historic molds used decades ago.
Lauscha has been the birthplace of glass Christmas ornaments since 1848. Before then, families decorated their trees with apples and walnuts. According to tradition, a Lauscha glassblower created the first glass bauble in 1847 when he could not afford those decorations.
Even today, the Thuringian Forest—especially the Lauscha region—remains one of Central Europe’s most important glassmaking areas.
In earlier times, artisans heated their burners with rapeseed oil or paraffin. Today they use natural gas or propane. However, the essential craftsmanship has remained the same. Skilled hands still shape every ornament using traditional glassblowing techniques.
