A paper Advent calendar turns the countdown to Christmas into a small daily ritual: open a numbered window and discover another picture. If you are choosing an Advent calendar in Canada this season, start with the illustration, size and display style that suit the person receiving it.
A calorie-free countdown to Christmas
All the anticipation, without the chocolate: these paper picture Advent calendars offer a calorie-free countdown, with a festive picture behind each numbered window instead of chocolate or sweets. Enjoy a little Christmas surprise each day, whether you choose a postcard-size greeting card or a larger display calendar.
Choose a picture calendar for a simple December tradition
The printed Advent calendars featured here have 24 numbered windows, with a surprise image behind each one. They are picture calendars rather than calendars filled with chocolate or toys. For someone who enjoys Christmas illustrations, the scene itself becomes part of the decoration.
These three calendars are made in Germany by Richard Sellmer Verlag. Each is listed at 43 × 20.5 cm with a tri-fold format.
Three illustrated Advent calendars to explore
Panorama Advent Calendar Kapellenplatz
Start with the Panorama Advent Calendar Kapellenplatz if you enjoy a detailed Christmas scene. View the product photographs to see how the illustration and folding format would fit your seasonal display.
Advent Calendar Small Town in the Moonlight
The Advent Calendar Small Town in the Moonlight offers another illustrated setting for your December countdown. Compare the artwork with Kapellenplatz to choose the scene you would most enjoy seeing each day.
Advent Calendar Domplatz
Explore the Advent Calendar Domplatz for a third design in the same listed size and tri-fold format. When several calendars share a format, choosing a favourite illustration is a useful way to narrow the options.
From postcard size to larger A4 calendars
Our collection includes compact postcard-size greeting-card calendars and larger paper calendars for display. The larger examples below are DIN A4 (21 × 29.7 cm), close to—but not exactly—the North American Letter format. Check each product’s listed dimensions when choosing.
Postcard-size: Christmas Shopping
A small greeting with a daily surprise: this paper Advent calendar card has 24 doors and includes a matching envelope. See the Christmas Shopping Advent calendar card.
Larger A4: Ice Skating Joys of Times Past
Choose a larger illustrated scene for your Christmas display. Open a window each day to reveal a picture, with no chocolate inside. See the A4 Ice Skating Advent calendar.
Pictures show the designs; they are not displayed at the same physical scale.
