The ornament is made using an embroidered lace process. Large embroidery machines first stitch the design onto a supporting fleece. Any small embroidery errors are then corrected by hand with a mending machine. This combines precise machine embroidery with careful manual finishing.

During the finishing stage, the supporting material is removed to leave the lace design. The piece is then dried and ironed. Excess threads are trimmed by hand, a detailed task that requires patience and close attention to the embroidered edges.
