Drechslerei Volkmar Wagner

Nestled in the small town of Hainichen, between Dresden and Chemnitz, Drechslerei Volkmar Wagner is renowned not only for classic Christmas decorations but especially for its charming and whimsical snowman figurines.

The story began in 1983, when Volkmar Wagner picked up a new hobby—woodturning. With just a drill, a small turning manual, and a makeshift workshop in his cellar and kitchen, he crafted his first wooden figures from maple. The joy of working with wood quickly grew into a passion. As demand for his delightful creations increased, Wagner pursued a formal apprenticeship in woodturning and eventually opened his own workshop.

By 1993, the very first Wagner snowmen were born. Over time, the collection expanded to include traditional items like pyramids and Advent candle holders, but it was the joyful, imaginative snowmen that captured hearts and sparked rapid growth in the product line. Today, the Wagner workshop offers over 350 different snowman designs.
